Homecoming is a week of tradition. There are many fun activities including our football game, pep rally, spirit week, and the homecoming dance. This was a great opportunity for our student body and staff to show their school spirit and support! It’s fun to see the Woodmore community all come together and support one another for the whole week!
Homecoming week started on Monday, October 2nd. Our spirit day was PJ day and there was no doubt that lots of students and staff would show up to school in their comfiest PJ’s! Tuesday of Homecoming week was probably the most fun for students and staff to dress up. It was Barbie vs Ken and there were a lot of Barbie’s walking around Woodmore High School. Barbie by far beat Ken on this spirit day, and it was great to see the few Ken’s still show their support. Also on Tuesday, there was a class kickball game. The first games were seniors vs freshmen and juniors vs sophomores. The seniors beat the freshmen and the sophomores undeniably beat the juniors. It wasn’t even a game. Then the championship game was for the seniors and sophomores and the loser’s game was for juniors and freshmen. The juniors almost came back to beat the freshman but in the end, the juniors just couldn’t do it. The seniors beat the sophomores and are our 2023 kickball champions!
Wednesday was country day as we saw many many jeans and flannel. Wednesday night was the annual bonfire. There was cornhole, tug of war, and a hot dog eating contest. All of which led up to the main event, the bonfire. Thursday was jersey day as well as the class vs class vs teachers scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt was very fun to watch as we saw many students almost get injured by running right into the table.
Friday was one of our biggest days of the week. We had our football Friday pep rally which we saw competitive matches of rock paper scissors and the winner got to pie Mr. Wickard in the face! Friday night there was the homecoming parade. As someone who was in the parade, it was great to see the community come together and support everyone. The seniors also won for the best float. Following the parade was the homecoming court ceremony. The freshman attendees were Edmida Hintz and Parker Angel. The sophomore attendants were Kelsey Kaylor and Aiden Cordy. The junior attendants were Isabelle Bush and Maceon Clark. The seniors in the running for king and queen were Jack Caldwell and Emily Kerecz, Amber Conner and Joshua Crowell, and Rylee Williamson, and Aden Carter. Last year’s king and queen Liam McCarthy and Lily Strong were in attendance to crown the new king and queen. The homecoming king and queen were Jack Caldwell and Emily Kerecz! Following the ceremony was the football game. Unfortunately, the Wildcats lost to Tiffin Calvert 49-0.
That Saturday was the homecoming dance. The theme was lights down, music up. There was some great music and the cafeteria was nicely decorated to match the theme. A special thanks to the students who decorated for the dance and made the dance possible. There was a great turnout for the dance and many students enjoyed themselves and danced til they couldn’t anymore. It was great to see everyone have a great time. Homecoming is always a fun week filled with many activities for everyone to enjoy and participate in. Hopefully, homecoming was a great experience for everyone, and that everyone enjoyed themselves throughout the week!
