On Saturday March 29th the Woodmore baseball varsity team started their season at Northwood. The team looked excited to play and start the season off with a win. They had an amazing game with a 17-0 win with Michael Seeger having three RBI’s with two hits. Trace Murphy threw a no hitter for his first start of the season with 8 strikeouts.
The second game of the season was against North Baltimore at home. Looking to defend their home turf, the Wildcats started off hot and scored two in the first inning and added on in future innings.. North Baltimore battled back in the fifth inning, making the score 7-5, and the score remained like that for the rest of the game. The Wildcats won the second game of their season, making them 2-0.
The third game of Woodmore Baseball’s team season was against the Elmwood Royals, and the Wildcats were away. Parker Hahn was the starting pitcher and gave up 7 runs and got pulled out of pitching to relieve him was Harry LaMunyon, who gave up 3 runs before being pulled. To finish the inning was Blane Overmyer, who let up one run and then got the final out with a pop-up to first base. In the fourth inning, the wild cats had a little rally, scoring one run. The final score was 1-11, with the Wildcats’ first loss of the season
The last game of the first week of the Woodmore baseball season was at Old Fort. In the first inning, Old Fort got ahead with 2 runs scored on Trace Murphy. The Wildcats didn’t answer back until the third inning with a Michael Seeger bubble and an RBI. In the fifth inning, the Wildcats scored on a passed ball by the catcher and another RBI, making the score 3-2. In the seventh inning, the Wildcats scored 8 runs with a huge rally, and Old Fort could not answer back with Keil Almroth closing the game, making the final score 11-2. Their record after their first week of baseball is 3-1, making it a great start to the season.
