What is the importance of Presidents’ Day? Presidents’ Day is officially known as George Washington’s Birthday and it is a federal holiday that is celebrated on the third Monday of February, every year. This national holiday was originally established in 1885 to celebrate our first president of the United States, but now it is celebrated for all our presidents in the U.S.
This day is to let Americans reflect on our past and present leaders, to honor all the things that they have done for the people and our country.
Most people celebrate this holiday by attending parades, visiting historical sites, and watching documentaries on the U.S. presidents. Many cities put together a parade every year to celebrate. For example, Chicago, New York, and Washington D.C. are all having President’s Day parades. This year we are celebrating this very important holiday on February 17th. Make sure to take a step back and reflect on our past and present presidents of the U.S.
