TikTok has been a massive app in the U.S. since September 20th of 2016. It is a platform where all kinds of people from different backgrounds, ages, and areas all get together and share news or stories with each other. Some people also use it for entertainment and like to share jokes on the platform. TikTok has been one of the biggest entertainment and news platforms for a while.
In the past year Tiktok has been in trouble by the government for national security reasons. The government is suspicious of TikTok because its father company is a Chinese company so they think TikTok is a Chinese spyware. This caused a great push in the congress to get Tiktok banned for the reason that it has a father company that is Chinese and they are scared that it will steal personal data from its users.
The government is planning to remove TikTok from all app stores in the U.S.A on the 19th of january. The only way TikTok will not get banned in the U.S. is if their parent company ByteDance sells to an American owned company or if they claim that banning the app is a violation of the first amendment to the American citizens.
If the app TikTok does get banned it will disappear from the Apple app store and the google play store. Any access to the site TikTok will be banned and illegal to distribute and access. Also if this ban goes through the law won’t only affect Tiktok it will affect any foreign apps because the government will get to choose any foreign app and have to choose to ban it from American app stores or not. TikTok is one of the most used apps in the world and the ban is going to infuriate its users and change how other apps function with the powerhouse app gone.
