As winter approaches, what activities do you look forward to the most? It is the coldest season of the year, but the time of year with the most joy. Just imagine yourself watching your favorite Christmas movie, with a hot chocolate in hand, and under your thickest blanket. The colorful lights reflect off the pure white snow, Christmas is around the corner, and you’re sitting on your comfy couch; feeling the warmth of the joyful winter season. Winter has some of the best activities, even if it’s cold and snowy. Typically, when people talk about winter, the first thought that comes to mind is the gifts we are given on Christmas. Most people look forward to the two major holidays, Christmas and New Year’s, but what about the fun activities we grew up on and still do?
Winter activities mainly revolve around the snow on the ground, but there are more activities than people think. Some outdoor activities revolve around snow on the ground, such as sledding, ice skating, snowball fights, and skiing. You can build a snowman, gingerbread house, or a snow fort. This time of year, you can bake an abundance of baking goods at home. You can make Christmas cookies, brownies, gingerbread, and fruit cake. Some people even drive through neighborhoods to see people’s houses decorated. These are just a handful of activities people do during the winter season. These activities are a great way to bring families together and make everlasting memories.
Some people would argue that there is nothing to do during winter because of the bad weather and the lack of daylight. However, even if the weather is not warm and sunny, the activities that we do during winter are not always dictated by the weather. There are indoor activities such as baking, movies, and board games. These are easy activities that everyone can enjoy during the winter season. Anybody can bundle up with layers of clothing and build a snowman because it is a priceless activity that creates bonds with the people we love and makes new memories with those we are close with. Winter is that time of the year to build bonds with our peers and make irreplaceable and everlasting memories.
Enjoy all of winter and have family and friends close by all season. Whether you are watching movies with hot chocolate or gazing at the snowfall from the sky. Like I said before, most people look forward to the two major holidays, Christmas and New Year’s, but what about the fun activities we grew up on and still do? I encourage everyone to get out there and participate in their favorite winter activities. Whatever your heart desires for this winter season.
