Woodmore football just secured their spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2001. They just finished the 2024 regular season with a 5-4 record and canceling their week 3 game because of an event that happened in cleveland.
One of Woodmore’s new coaches was interviewed about their season so far and what his thoughts are going into the playoffs. He is the linebackers coach on the defensive side of the ball and a running back coach on the offensive side. The first question asked was how do you think the team played throughout the season? His response was, “at times really good and at other times we didn’t leave it all out on the field. But I’m proud the kids were able to jump back from the tough middle of the season and finished strong and I hope that we can do some damage in the playoffs.” Secondly, he was asked, how do you hope the rest of the 2024 season will go? “Nobody likes to lose out of the tournament and hopefully the team isn’t content with just making the playoffs and they want to win, so that they don’t just say that they are the first team to make the playoffs but the first team to win a playoff game in 23 years,” was his response. Lastly he was asked, how does it feel to make it to the playoffs your first year at woodmore? His response to this was, “it feels incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to come in here and get the respect from the players even though I’m a young coach and to be able to change the culture and make the playoffs.”
The team is very excited to go to the playoffs and everyone hopes to get a win. They are going to work very hard this week at practice so they can do their best in the playoffs. If anyone is interested in the game there is a student bus that you can ride to the game.
