Even the smallest donation can make a big difference. The Contemporary World Issues class recently held a successful canned food drive to support local food pantries in Woodville and Elmore. Aiming to collect 300 canned goods in just two weeks, the students at Woodmore came together to exceed all expectations, gathering an outstanding 1,458 canned goods!
On Wednesday, October 23, the class hand-delivered the donations to the food pantries. The volunteers there were overwhelmed with gratitude as they received such a generous contribution. As a student involved in the delivery, witnessing the huge smiles on everyone’s faces was incredibly rewarding and made me eager to take on the next project. Each shelf at the pantry was now brimming with hope for community members in need.
Mrs. Curtis, the teacher of the Contemporary World Issues class, was blown away by the outpouring of support. “I thought we would raise 300, and I really wanted 400, but then we received 1,458! It was unbelievable!” she said. Always looking for ways to enhance the school and support the community, Mrs. Curtis and her class are already exploring options for their next project. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the canned food drive, we couldn’t have done this without you!
