Cadin Hilt, the JV quarterback was subbed in after the half like most of the JV players so they could keep the starters healthy for the upcoming week. Hilt was 1 for 5 with 21 yards passing and no touchdowns. Jesse Lopez caught 2 passes for a total of 11 yards and an average of 5.5 yards per catch. Carson Slates caught his first catch of the season for a 21 yard pickup against Hopewell.
I interviewed Calvin Lipstraw about the game and the performance of the team in their last game. The first question I asked him was how he thought that the game went and his response was the following. “ The game wasn’t good at all, we lost badly and made a lot of mistakes that we have to fix this week at practice.” The second question I asked Lipstraw was how can you bounce back for next week’s game. His response was, “During this week at practice we have to go 100% at everything that we do and listen to the coaches and trust in what they’re telling us and believe in ourselves.” Lastly I asked Lipstraw what does this next week mean to him considering if they win the game then they are in the playoffs. “This next week is the biggest game yet this season because if we win this week then we will end with a winning season and make the playoffs which we haven’t done in 23 years.”
This week Woodmore will host the Lakota Raiders at home for their last regular season game of the year. Also, this week is senior night so make sure you come out and support your Woodmore football seniors.
