This year’s October senior of the month was awarded to Kora Perkins! Perkins is involved in volleyball, track and field, Student Council, National Honors Society, and fellowship of Christian athletes. Perkins hobbies include reading and going on walks. Perkins said “just being out in nature!” Perkins enjoys her shop classes offered here at Woodmore. “I feel like I’m learning life skills. I also enjoy building things and we make some really cool things!” Some of Perkins favorite memories are the football games. “Dressing up for the themes, hanging out with friends, and cheering on the football team is so fun. I also really like the pep rallies.”
Every student has a different way of dealing with adversity. Perkins said “I would say that I deal with stress with school, sports, etc, by talking to people. Sometimes you just need to let things off your chest because if you don’t it’s just going to explode all at once, probably at a person who doesn’t deserve it. I like talking to my parents because they have some good advice because they have been through it. I also like talking to my friends because we are all going through it together. I like to go on walks and listen to music just to get my mind off of those things that are making me stressed.” I think we can all relate to this and take some time to reflect on what Perkins said.
Perkins said her greatest influence has been her brother Marty. “He’s a great role model and is always there for me. Whenever I have questions, I know I can text or call him and he will help me figure it out and get me through it.” Perkins plans after high school are to attend a 2 or 4 year college and major in medical diagnostic sonography. Congratulations Kora Perkins on senior of the month!
