We are excited to introduce one of our new staff members this year, Jeremy Lewis. He has joined Woodmore as a paraprofessional and is already making a great impression. Mr. Lewis comes to Woodmore from Virginia, where he grew up and went to school. He attended Bridgewater College for his undergraduate degree, which helped him get started in his career. After that, he went on to earn a master’s degree from Full Sail University, where he further developed his skills and passion for education.
To get to know him a little better, I asked Mr. Lewis about his experience at Woodmore so far. When I asked him what his favorite part was, he shared, “So far, I’d have to say the people. Everyone has been kind and helpful as I’ve been getting used to my new role.” It’s clear that Mr. Lewis feels welcome here, and we’re happy to have him to be a part of Woodmore.
I also asked Mr. Lewis what he thought was the best part of being a paraprofessional, and he happily said, “I’d say working with the students. I’ve really enjoyed helping them participate in class, and I’ve even been able to incorporate some of the things I love to do, like photography, which has been fun as well!” He shared how much he enjoys being able to connect with the students and make learning more exciting for them. Bringing his love for photography into the classroom has made his job even more enjoyable, while also giving students a chance to learn in new and creative ways.
Mr. Lewis is just starting to switch careers. He used to work in journalism and public relations, but now he’s working toward becoming a teacher and getting his teaching license. Right now, he’s working as a paraprofessional which is giving him hands-on experience in the classroom. This is helping him learn what it takes to be a good teacher and prepare for his future in education. The time he spends working closely with students and teachers is helping him get more comfortable with teaching and building the skills he will need to succeed in his new career.
Before becoming a paraprofessional, Mr. Lewis had a lot of different experiences in both the military and sports. In the Army, he worked as a journalist and also as a PR specialist, handling communication and making sure the Army was represented well. He was also a coach at Oak Harbor. He spent time coaching track and field, football, and helping young athletes improve their skills and succeed.
To sum everything up, Mr. Lewis brings a lot of different experiences to his new role as a paraprofessional at Woodmore. His work in journalism, public relations, the military, and coaching has given him useful skills that he’s now using in the classroom. He enjoys working with students and even brings his love for photography into his lessons, which makes him a great fit for the school. As he continues learning and working toward becoming a teacher, we’re excited to see the impact he’ll have on the students and the staff. We’re lucky to have him at Woodmore and can’t wait to see him grow in his new career.
