They start off with the wild card games where 8 teams face each other in a best out of three elimination. But the top four teams in each league get a bye from a wild card spot. The winners of the wild card move on to face the teams that got the bye in the ALDS or the NLDS in a best of five elimination. The winners of that then move on to the ALCS or the NLCS where it’s a best out of seven then the two final winners of this go on to the world series. The world series is a best of seven elimination and the winner takes it all.
Now you understand how the playoffs work, we can get into the predictions. The wild card for the American league will be filled with the Orioles, Mariners, Astros and the royals. They are the top ranked teams in the league and have the highest chance of making the playoffs. The two teams that get a bye are the Yankees and Guardians. They are the top two teams in the conference right now, so they have the highest chance of getting the bye. The National league wild card spots will be the Brewers, Padres, Mets and Cubs. They also have the highest chance of making the playoffs.The two byes are going to be the Dodgers and Phillies because they have the top two records in their league. The teams that make it to the ALDS are Yankees, Orioles, Astros, and Guardians. They all have the highest win rate out of the other teams they face so they would move on.
The teams that make it to the NLDS are Brewers, Phillies, Cubs, and Dodgers. They also have the highest win rate and the Phillies have the highest score differential so they move on. In the ALCS, the Yankees and Astros make it; they both always get hot at this point in the playoffs making them some of the hardest teams to beat in the playoffs moving them on. In the NLCS, the Phillies and Dodgers make it because the Dodgers have some of the best players in the league and the Phillies fan base has some of the most supporting fans making the Phillies unstoppable at home games.
The winners of these games are Yankees and Phillies because they both have the fan base to win their home games and their older players that have experience with play off to pull off the wins to make it to the world series that go to the world series. The winner of the world series is going to be the Yankees with a 4-2 win because they have the star players and experience to win a high pressure game and they have more star players than the Phillies making them have the upper hand on the Phillies. The playoffs are just around the corner and anything could happen, my predictions could be right, they could be wrong but that’s just baseball.
