Toledo also had a stifling defense that held Mississippi State to only three points in the first half. Toledo led at the half 28-3. Toledo finished the game strong and won 41-17. Toledo quarterback Tucker Gleason threw for 285 yards and 3 touchdowns. However, even though Mississippi State was crushed and humiliated at home there were still some good things that happened. Mississippi State quarterback Blake Shapen finished the game 28-of-39 passing for 319 yards and threw for 2 touchdowns. Jeff Lebby states after the game, “We’re disappointed that we played and coached the way that we did in front of our home crowd with our students showing up the way that they did”. This win was a dominant one for Toledo and they hope to continue this momentum and move on to MAC play and keep winning.
