Woodmore High School is very excited to welcome new staff members for this school year. One of our most exciting additions to our school is our new principal, Loretta Coil! Mrs. Coil comes to us with a lot of experience. She was the principal at St. Joe Catholic school for three years. Now, she is excited to join us here at Woodmore and is ready to get to know all of our students and staff. Her main goal is to make sure every student at Woodmore feels loved, heard, and valued.
Mrs. Coil never thought she would become a high school principal. When she first started in special education, she thought she would be working as a special education teacher or an advisor for her whole life. Her path changed when she was offered a job as a dean. However, two weeks before she was supposed to start that job, she got a call telling her that the position was no longer available. Instead, she was offered the chance to be a high school principal! Even though she had never expected it, Mrs. Coil decided to give it a try. And as it turns out, she absolutely loves being a principal!
Mrs. Coil’s journey in education didn’t stop there. She attended three different colleges to earn her degrees. She started her educational journey at the University of Dayton where she got her undergraduate degree. After that, she went on to the University of Toledo to earn her first master’s degree. To continue her education, she also attended Concordia University of Chicago, where she earned another master’s degree. With her experience and passion for education, we know Mrs. Coil will do an amazing job here at Woodmore High School!
I sat down with Mrs. Coil to discuss the impact she hopes to have at Woodmore High School. She shared that her goal is for every student to feel loved and supported while they are here. She wants to help each student reach their goals and set them up for success, whether it’s in academics, sports, clubs, or preparing for life after high school.
Mrs. Coil also expressed how much she appreciates the warm welcome she’s received at Woodmore. The students and staff have been incredibly kind and have made her transition much smoother. She can already tell that this school is a great place.
When asked about the biggest change from Mrs. Coil’s previous role at a private Catholic school, Mrs. Coil pointed out that the state requirements are the most significant difference. Now, she has to navigate specific guidelines that public schools must meet.
With Mrs. Coil’s dedication, experience, and passion for education, Mrs. Coil is ready to take Woodmore High School to the next level. She is focused on creating a welcoming and supportive environment where every student feels valued and encouraged to reach their goals. Even though transitioning from a private to a public school brings new challenges, she is excited to build a school community that helps everyone grow and succeed. We can’t wait to see all the positive changes she will bring to Woodmore in the coming years.
