Welcome back to Dinosaur of the Week! This week’s dino is the fascinating Acrocanthosaurus which like the previous dinosaur of the week, the Acrocanthosaurus is similar to the famous T-Rex but is shorter and weighs about one to two tons less. This beast could reach speeds of up to twenty-five miles per hour and weighed up to 15,000 pounds. To put into retrospect this was the fourth largest meat eating dinosaur of the Mesozoic Era, after the Spinosoraus, Gigantosoraus, and Tyrannosaurus Rex. The Acrocanthosaurus preferred to stalk its prey in the open and targeted smaller plant-eating dinosaurs like the Tenontosaurus. Make sure to check back next week for Dinosaur of the Week!
