Welcome to dinosaur of the week where we will have a new dinosaur every week that we will tell you interesting facts about! We are kicking off this year with an awesome Dino: the Pteranodon! What is this dinosaur you ask? Well the Pteranodon is very similar to the Pterodactyl with their appearance being almost identical. This bird-like reptile is actually a genus of a pterosaur that includes some of the largest flying reptiles to ever exist. Pteranodons lived 89.8 – 70.6 million years ago and they still have relatives like birds and crocodiles in the modern world today. Their wingspan is over six meters long (19 feet) which is about as tall as a giraffe! For any who know about the show Dinosaur Train that aired on PBS Kids, the family that adopted the T-Rex in the show were all Pteranodons! Check back next week for the next Dino of the Week!
