The Senior World Team Trials were last Friday and Saturday (May 16th and 17th). With the tournament coming to an end Saturday, here are the results from 60kg – 79kg.
At the 65kg (143 lbs) bracket, the gold medal winner was Real Woods. In the semifinals, Real defeated two-time national champion Jesse Mendez. In the finals, Real defeated Brock Hardy, a three-time all-American. Real Woods will go on to face Joseph McKenna at Final X.
At the 70kg (154 lbs) bracket, PJ Duke took home gold. In the semifinals, PJ defeated national champion Ridge Lovett. In the finals, Duke defeated Bryce Andonian. PJ Duke is a senior in high school and defeated two national champions in this tournament. PJ will face four-time national champion Yianni Diakomihalis at Final X.
At 74kg (162.8 lbs), NCAA national champion David Carr defeated Jarret Jacques. Carr will wrestle NCAA national champion Mitchell Messenbrink at Final X.
At 79 kg (173.8 lbs), NCAA national champion Levi Haines took home gold. Haines defeated Dean Hamiti Jr in the finals 10-2. Levi Haines will wrestle Evan Wick at Final X.
Final X is June 14th in Newark, New Jersey.
