This school year, Mr. Fannin had a student teacher from Bowling Green State University, Miss Kay, who graduated from BGSU on May third. Miss Kay plans to get a teaching position in Southeast Michigan, teaching middle or high school students.
I asked Miss Kay a few questions:
What is your favorite thing about Woodmore? “All of the amazing students I got to meet and the community of teachers.”
What has been your favorite thing Mr. Fannin has done? “I liked Mr. Fannin’s Miyagi Mondays and that he does a lot with social-emotional learning.”
What is your favorite thing you’ve taught or assigned at Woodmore? “I loved assigning the American Great Project to the juniors. It was an annotated bibliography that the students had a presentation on. Each student got to pick a topic of their choice and argue why it’s important to American history, culture, people, and future.”
When I asked senior Kylie Herrig what she enjoyed about having Miss Kay as a student teacher, she responded, “She was very energetic and helpful, making all of her students feel welcomed. In my Journalism class, Miss Kay helped make me a better writer.”
Miss Kay consistently provided perceptive answers and was always kind to all of her students, offering advice on writing and life. From my experience, she was an inspiration. She greatly helped my Journalism class, brainstorming writing topics and designing our printed newspaper. She will be missed at Woodmore, and I’m so grateful to have known her. I wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors. Miss Kay is very capable!
