Baseball is a game won by signing the best players to get you through the season. So I will be talking about the top 5 moves of the 2025 off-season. This winter has been crazy with the biggest contract ever being signed this season and the defending World Series champions adding another great pitcher to their roster making them carriers than ever.
The 5th best move this offseason was made by the Diamondbacks. They signed former Cy Young winner Curban Burns to a 6-year 210-million-dollar contract with a 2026 opt-out and a 64 million dollar defer. Diamondbacks have a younger team with great talent and Burns would have a lot of value to their pitching rotation. With the recent success the Diamondbacks have been having I see them being a World Series threat.
The fourth best move during this winter is Kyle Tucker getting traded to the Cubs for Isaac Paredes. This happened because his contract with the Astros was almost up so he got traded to the Cubs to spice up their offense. It is going to be interesting to see where this trade takes Kyle throughout his career.
The third-best move this season is the Red Sox Getting their hands on Garrett Crochet. With the Red Sox having a mediocre season last season they needed to spice up their defense and with Garrett, they might be able to. He has alright stats but he was also on the worst team in baseball so we’ll see how he performs on a working team.
The second-best move is Roki Sasaki choosing the Dodgers. With the Dodgers already having the most stacked team inside the MLB. They will be unbeatable with other Cy Young contenders on their team. They will be favorites to go to the World Series.
The best move made in the 2025 off-season is the biggest contract signing in MLB and it is Juan Soto signing to the Mets. This contract was a 765 million dollar, 15-year contract with no deferments. This is one of the craziest contracts we are ever going to get because this is for a designated hitter after the first couple of years in his contract. This contract might be a bust over the next couple of years or it might be worth their money. We’ll have to see what Juan Soto does with his new motivation.
