If you are a high school student trying to decide what career path to go down in your future, take the STNA program into consideration. The abbreviation “STNA” stands for State Tested Nursing Assistant. Recently, the term preferred is CNA, which stands for Certified Nursing Assistant. To be in the STNA program at Woodmore, you drive to Oak Harbor, Ohio to learn with other students in our area. You’ll get the opportunity to meet new students and get educated on the healthcare field. STNA students spend half of their day at Woodmore High School, and the other half in Oak Harbor. Some topics that STNA students go over include, phlebotomy and medical terminology. By being part of the STNA program for your senior year, you earn a CNA license. The STNA program is a great option for hands-on learning and a chance to earn a license in only a year or less. There are also on the job learning opportunities, where students can travel to different locations to learn more STNA skills.
I asked former STNA senior, Karter Walper, if he would recommend the STNA program to seniors next school year. His response was, “I would definitely recommend the STNA program to seniors next year. Although I ended up dropping the program, I’m so glad I tried the program. It made me realize that being in the healthcare field may not be the best fit for me, but it was a free and very rewarding experience. My favorite part of the program was learning my nursing assistant skills and getting to form bonds with patients on days we worked in the clinic.”
According to Karter, the STNA program sounds to be a terrific program that has many perks. Will any of you consider joining the STNA program for your senior year?
