The woodmore wildcats placed first at the Van Buren invitation with 6 of their guys placing top 6. Aiden Cordy placed 6th in the 138-pound weight class. Landon Rich placed 4th in the 175-pound weight class. Bailey Jendrzjak placed 3rd in the 215-pound weight class. Gavin Herrig placed 2nd at 157 and Wyatt Thieroff also placed 2nd in the 120-pound weight class. Lastly, Michael Seeger was the only champion for the Wildcats in the 190-pound weight class.
I interviewed Michael Seeger about his performance at the Van Buren tournament. Michael is an amazing triple sport athlete. He is a star on the football field, the baseball field but especially on the wrestling mat. Van Buren is the second tournament that Michael Seeger has placed first at this year along with placing first at the Northwood tournament. The first question Michael was asked was, How does it feel to win the Van Buren Invitational? His response to this question was “ It feels good, it’s a step on the way to the end goal of winning the league and making it to state.” The second question that he was asked was, How do you think you will do the rest of the season? He responded to this with, “ I feel I can make it to state, it will be tough but as long as I keep doing what I have been I am confident in myself.” He was also asked, how he thinks he will do in the league. “ I will have to face some tough competition but I can definitely make it to the finals to help the team achieve the league championship.” Finally, Michael was asked how he thinks the team will perform at the SBC league tournament this year. His response to this last question was, “ I think we’re gonna win league, we have been doing good as a team this year and if everyone wrestles to their best ability we will for sure win league”
Next, the Wildcats will go to Lima for their next tournament. Good luck to the wrestling team.
