After a disappointing loss to Port Clinton in the first home game for the Varsity Wildcats, the Woodmore basketball team was able to prove they still aren’t a program to sneeze at when they defeated North Baltimore also at home on December 6th. It was an exciting game that kept audience members on the edge of their seats through four quarters and especially in overtime. A little scary for the Wildcats at the end of regulation with a score of 47-47, but they were able to come out with an amazing overtime win of 57-49.
It was off to a shaky start for senior Brady Thatcher when he had only 2 points in the first half, but he was able to turn it on in the second half putting up 16 additional points to make him the Wildcats high-scorer for the night. When asked how he felt about his performance, he said he wished he would have made some of the fast break layups he missed in the first half. Overall, it was a good game for Brady Thatcher and it will be exciting to see what he can do for the rest of the season.
Senior Brody Ish also put up an impressive amount of points, ending his scoring at 13 points for the night. Ish
started the game strong, scoring a 3 pointer and layup at the start of the game for Woodmore’s first points of the game. Carson Slates was also able to net the cats 12 points, making him the 3rd highest scoring player for the team.
