With winter sports season approaching, the Woodmore competition cheer team is gearing up for another exciting season. Over the past few years, they’ve built a strong legacy, achieving some incredible milestones along the way.
In 2022, the team had a standout season. They not only took home the state championship title but also earned a spot at Nationals in Disney World. It was an unforgettable experience, filled with hard work, dedication, and plenty of memories that the girls will cherish forever.
The following year, in 2023, the team proved that size doesn’t matter. With just nine members, they showed incredible strength and determination. They picked up multiple first-place trophies throughout the season and gave it their all at state, finishing as runner-ups in a competitive field of twelve teams. It was a proud moment for everyone involved, even though they narrowly missed out on first place.
In 2024, the competition was tougher, and the team placed sixth at state. Although it wasn’t the outcome they hoped for, it motivated them to push harder and come back stronger. Now, as the new competition season draws near, the team is ready to take on the challenge. They’re practicing hard, perfecting their routines, and building excitement for what’s to come. The Woodmore cheerleaders are determined to make this season one to remember!
I interviewed senior Kylee Majchszak and asked her how she is feeling about this season. She said, “I feel that this season will be better because we have a smaller team and we will have more time to focus on the people who need help. I also think that we will have more focus and determination this year as it is a smaller team.” This is Kylee’s second year being a part of the gameday competition team and she is excited about what is to come for her final year competing.
I also intervened Sophomore Kristina Squires and asked her what she is the most excited for during this competition season. Kristina replied with “Well not the hair, but I am super excited to wear the competition uniforms.” This is Kristina’s first year being a part of the gameday competition squad.
Best of luck to the Woodmore cheer team as they bring their spirit and skill to the competition this season!
