With fall sports coming to an end, it’s time for Woodmore to shift its gears and get ready for this upcoming basketball season. The boys have started practicing already to prepare themselves and improve their skills for the season. Because of the team’s great leaders, fans should have high expectations for the basketball team this year.
This season, the coach of the Varsity team will be Aaron Clouse coming back for his eleventh season. The coach for the Junior Varsity team is Doug Buhrow, returning for his seventh season, and Scott Smith, the Freshmen coach, returning also for his eleventh season. There will be a total of eight seniors. The seniors of the team are Brady Thatcher, Karter Walper, Izaiah Wilson, Parker Hahn, Kyle Mangus, Mitchell Gillig, Brody Ish, and Kaiden Orcelletto. They will be leading the basketball team this year.
Brady Thatcher is a three-year letter-winner for basketball and is on his way to 1000 career points. He was asked if he was excited for this basketball season. What are some goals he and his team have for this year? And what is important to him about this upcoming season? His response was, “Yes, I am very excited for this basketball season. I am expecting a great season with many wins and great success. Some goals for myself and the team this year are to rebound better and play better defense to win games as well as out-scoring the other teams. The things that are important to me about this season are for it to be the best season I’ve had in 4 years in all aspects of the game because it is my last season and it is going to be the best season.
Make sure to show the basketball boys some support this year. Their first game will be on November 29, at home against Port Clinton. Go Wildcats!
