Woodmore football had a devastating loss 41-9 at Fairview high school in their round one football game. They had a regular season record of 5 and 4 making the OHSAA playoffs at the 11th seed. Woodmore has had the best season that they have had since 2001 when they last made the playoffs.
Landon Rich was interviewed about how his thought of the season went and how he feels about what happened throughout this football season. Rich broke the record for carries in a game with 42 and the most rushing yards in a season with 1,818. He got 2nd team all SBC for running back. The first question I asked Rich was, how does it feel to break the record of yards in a season? And his response was the following, “It felt pretty good to break the record even though we lost the game it brought something positive out of it.” Secondly I asked him, are you proud of what you’ve accomplished this season? “I think the season as a whole went well. The kids learned as much as they could in a short period of time and we all stepped up to the challenge to get better,” was his response. Next, I asked him, “How do you hope next year will go? ” His response to that question was, “I hope next year we continue to improve and to get a higher seed for the playoffs and win some playoff games.” Then I asked him if he thinks that the football team will be stronger next year? He responded by saying, “I believe the team will be stronger with us only losing 3 seniors. We have a lot of younger guys and we can continue to improve on what we are good at and we can add to the offense and defense as well.” Lastly I asked Landon if he has any final message to say anything about their season’s performance or the upcoming season? He responded with, “I think my final message is that we will continue to improve in the offseason and we will work to become league title contenders for next year.”
Woodmore had a great season this year and they are looking to improve for next year and contend for a league title.
