Who is excited for Black Friday 2024?!
Black Friday 2024 will be on Friday, November 29th. Black Friday is always the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It’s traditionally the start of the Christmas shopping season for Americans. Typically, store hours are extended for Black Friday and stores usually provide amazing sales and discounts. In the 1950’s-70’s the Black Friday name came from Philadelphia. Loads of people came into Philadelphia to begin their Christmas shopping, along with watching Saturday’s annual Army-Navy football game. All of the people in the busy city caused chaos to the police of Philadelphia, so they referred to the Friday after Thanksgiving as “Black Friday.” This year, some great Black Friday sales will include, $100 off of the Apple Ipad mini (7th gen) on Amazon, $36 off of the Apple Pencil Pro at several stores, $22 off of the Amazon Echo Pop, $40 off of the Amazon Echo show 5, and so many more tremendous deals.
I asked two Journalism students from Woodmore High School what their favorite part of Black Friday is. Sophomore Mylie Grove said, “My favorite part of Black Friday is probably spending time with my loved ones, while I’m getting great deals for Christmas!” Senior Kylie Herrig stated, “My favorite part of Black Friday is the discounts and online shopping deals!”
