When we grow up, we develop opinions, traits, and habits that are essential to a person. Although all of those make great points, their mindset makes a person. The way someone thinks affects everyone around them however it also affects that person individually. From that perspective, the way your viewpoint is on everything helps evolve you as a person. When we are young we are taught to obey thus causing more kids or even adults to be more defiant because of how they think. Trying to change the way you have been thinking or learning is hard; however, wanting to better yourself requires your mindset to change.
Changing your mindset in school is one of the hardest things to recognize as a problem. Procrastination, degrading, and giving up all contribute to the mentality in school that needs to change. However, the first step to shifting this starts with being self-aware of what is being thought and how that can be improved. Keeping positive affirmations or just positive words always surrounding will help contribute to the factors of change surrounding what originally started the thoughts that make the struggles. When it comes to academics, most students thrive while others struggle and the reason behind all of that is how they prioritize homework or just school work in general.
From personal experience, I struggled with what I needed to prioritize when it came down to school work, sports, and clubs. What played a key role in all of those struggles was how I viewed it. I would think of doing all of these as me being required to go and do all of these things instead I should have been thinking about how I’m able to further accomplish or accelerate when it comes to school, sports, or extracurriculars. Although the procrastination and hesitation in all the activities I felt I had to get done, what helped change how everything was viewed as being self-aware of the problem. When it finally started to click for me that I needed to change my mindset and my work ethic, I needed to figure out how to fix it. I changed my routine when it came to how I would spend my free time. I started to plan out when I was going to do my homework and when I was going to practice for sports. I started to fix the problem and it was rooted in how I viewed all of it. I stopped thinking that it was assignments and practice I had to do but it was what I got to do. I learned to change my habits and create new and better ones no matter how long it takes. My habits and mindset will continue to change but I aspire to continue to be better than I was whether it was a month or a day ago.
Over time, with consistent practice with positive thinking, reflection on setbacks as learning opportunities, and pushing beyond the comfort zone, a new mindset will better and transform every aspect of how you continue to think.
