The Woodmore Wildcats had a win at home this week against Cincinnati College prep. It was a nail biter with the final score being 24-20. The score of the game at halftime was 14-8 with Woodmore winning. Woodmore now advances their record to 4-2.
After the game, I interviewed Landon Rich because of his outstanding performance on saturday. Rich reached 1,000 yards rushing on the season! His total season stats are 1,127 yards rushing on 160 carries. With Rich’s average yard per carry being 7 and his average yards per game is 188. Rich ran the ball 38 times for a total of 234 yards rushing. He averaged 6 yards per carry with 3 touchdowns on the night. Not only did he show up and perform on offense he did on defense as well. Rich had the most tackles with 10 against Cincinnati. The first question I asked Rich was, how did you think that the game went? His response was, “I think the game went well but we’re still pretty rough in some places that we have to fix up, but I was excited because it came down to the last play of the game and that’s always super fun.” Next I asked him, how does it feel that you reached 1,000 yards rushing? “ Getting to 1,000 rushing yards in a season was one of my goals at the beginning of the year so to get to that pretty quickly is great”. Lastly I asked Rich, you had the most yards on offense and the most tackles on defense, how does that make you feel about your performance? Do you think that was your best game so far? His response was, “Seeing the stats made me feel better about my performance but it wasn’t my best. I think my best offensive game was Willard and my best defensive game was North central”.
Next, I interviewed Kyle Mangus because he was 100% on field goals and PAT’s. The first question I asked him was, You had what most people are considering the game sealing field goal, how did that make you feel? His response was “It affected me in a very good way”. Next I asked him, You were 100% on field goals and PAT’s, how did that affect you? “I was happy I went 100% after the first PAT. My leg felt great and making good kicks made me feel confident,” was his response. Lastly I asked him, how do you think the rest of the season will go and do you see playoffs in the future? His response was “I think we are going to be in the playoffs, we are a good team and we have been working really hard to achieve our goals”.
Woodmore will be facing Tiffin Calvert away next week for their week 8 game.
