The Woodmore Wildcats football team had another tough loss against Gibsonburg at home last Friday on a cold rainy night. The final score was 34-0. The football team was outgained 335-161 as Landon Rich had 23 carries for 87 yards.
Woodmore’s passing game was tough as Calvin Lipstraw had 85 passing yards with one interception. Junior Michael Seeger had two receptions for 57 yards, including a 52-yard reception in the first quarter. Freshman Robert Seeger and Junior Jesse Lopez also had receptions during the game.
Landon Rich is a captain and running back of the football team. So far this year, he has stacked up almost 900 yards. He was asked how Woodmore could bounce back from this tough loss, and his response was, “we just have to do our jobs correctly and execute in-game and in practice. We have to buy into what the coaches are saying and what the leaders are trying to teach people.” Michael Seeger was asked the same thing and he said “we just have to look forward and worry about the next game. We can’t worry about what’s in the past and have got to look forward to the next game.”
Woodmore’s defense fought hard against the Golden Bears running-based offense, holding them for long drives throughout the game. One taking 9 minutes off the game clock. In the first quarter, the defensive line forced and recovered a fumble to give Woodmore the football back. Linebackers Landon Rich and Karter Walper had lots of action on defense since Gibsonburg didn’t pass the ball once the entire game.
Woodmore plays Cincinnati College Prep Academy next weekend on a Saturday. They play on Saturday due to Cincinnati being too far away to play on a Friday night. It is a home game so make sure to come and watch them. Go Wildcats!
