Addison Overmyer is a junior at Woodmore High School and she recently just beat the record she had tied for pole vault! The school record that was set was 9’8 by Katie Smith in 2011. Overmyer just set the record at 10’0! Overmyer has been pole vaulting since 5th grade, so about 7 years. Overmyers favorite part about doing track is the coaching staff because “they have made me like the sport and running in general”. When asked to describe the moment Overymyer broke the record, she said the picture describes it all. It is seen below.
There are obstacles that all athletes face when it comes to their sport. Overmyer had to say “The obstacle I face is you have to make sure you are having fun, when you don’t have fun you will not be good”. When asked if she could beat her own record before the end of senior year, Overmyer’s exact words were “Hell yeah!” Overmyer is also involved in Volleyball, Girls Wrestling, FCA, and FTA. Overmyer wants to give special thanks to her family because they are always there to support her. Overmyer said, “Mostly my dad and my brother because they helped me get to where I am at today”. We wish Addison the best of luck as she finishes out this season of track! Keep up the good work!
